Other people know best!

Yesterday we were back with the dermatology nurse. I think she is great. She listens, acknowledges, responds and suggests. That is what I need. Unfortunately regarding a referral she says it should come from the GP and they have said otherwise so they do not have to pay. She will write to them and speak to the dermatologists about it. We’ve got a new cream to try too.
I was happy with the result.
Then a relative phoned to see how we got on. I know she cares. 9.30pm is not a great time though to phone, have a go about the dermatology nurse, the NHS and how as I parent I am sitting back and not being concerned. If it was her son…..
The last onslaught of ‘do this do that’ culminated in a blood test (due to excessive tiredness which I now presume was caused by his wee body fighting his infected skin for over a year without let up and unrest at night time. We could not go out because of it!). She wanted the test done and looked after my little girl whilst I took James. As I was leaving she said ‘Oh, if this doesn’t come up with something I hope they just leave the little boy alone’. I nearly choked, it was at her instigation.
However, it turns out that we are too laid back, don’t care, don’t do enough and previously she has said ’she would have it sorted by now’. I bite my tongue whilst on the phone to her. My husband will not speak to her or her husband about it - he gets furious and wanted to say something today. I guess while I ‘bite my tongue’ she gets wound up that I am not agreeing with her - ‘I’m waiting for you to say something’. ‘Please go’ was what I was thinking but I could not say it!
I understand she needs somewhere to let off steam. Hopefully she felt better, although unlikely, and I certainly felt worse.
It would not be helpful if I were to show James how upset I get with his skin. Believe me there have been many nights I have sat in with him sleeping, crying and praying simultaneously. I wish she could see him without noticing his skin.
Anyway, new cream and hopefully another referral.
