Great North Run

Sunday 8 September 2019 (Half Marathon)

The Great North Run is the largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September.  The course runs between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields and was originally devised by former Olympic 10,000 m bronze medallist and BBC Sports commentator Brendan Foster.

The first Great North Run was staged on 28 June 1981 when 12,000 runners participated. By 2011, the number of participants had risen to 54,000. It is now one of the biggest running events in the world, and the biggest in the UK.  Only the Great Manchester Run and London Marathon come close to attracting similar numbers of athletes each year.

The race now incorporates the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and Mo Farah has won the race for the past two years.

We have a small number of charity places available and have a £300 minimum fundraising requirement for this event;  this amount covers the cost of your place plus an administration fee to Great North Run, as well as our administration costs and the supply of a running vest or tee-shirt, so please "do your best" to raise as much as you can! To express your interest, please fill in and return this application form to fundraising@eczema.org - thank you.

Visit the Great North Run website for lots of detailed information about the event itself.
