Kirsty Harmer

Runner Kirsty Harmer has been inspired by watching long standing NES supporter and fundraiser Spencer Townsend take on the Marathon last year.

Kirsty says 'having supported a friend of mine running for the National Eczema Society in the past and seen all the great things he posted about what the charity does for people, I really want to contribute towards getting the organisation heard and recognised!

I think it's really important to help raise money for smaller charities that don't have the same platform that a lot of the larger London Marathon charities have.  Smaller charities need more support to continue the hard work they do.

While I've never run a marathon before, I have had an interest in running since school.  Being a keen runner, I comfortably run 6-8 miles most days.  The furthest I've ever run for charity though is half-marathons - although I've also take part in boot camps and mud runs to raise as much as I can - so I've had to double and triple those miles now for training, and I'm only road running twice a week.

I also take part in circuit training and sprint sessions on the treadmill.  I'm trying everything I can to help get me around the course and keep at a pace I'm happy with.  I've also found swimming a great way to stretch out my achy legs.'
