You have reached the Blog of the National Eczema Society (NES).  NES is the only patient support organisation in the UK for sufferer’s of eczema and their carers.  The Society relies entirely on voluntary individual and corporate donations and income from its Membership scheme.

Formed in 1975, the National Eczema Society has two principal aims; first, to provide people with independent and practical advice about treating and managing eczema; secondly, to raise awareness of the needs of people with eczema with healthcare professionals, teachers and the government.

We achieve the above in a number of ways; from our Helpline, by producing up to date factsheets and publications about the treatment and management of the condition; through a network of local support groups and producing information packs for use in schools.  We also work closely with healthcare professionals including providing a dedicated website for their use and by running a programme of study days throughout the year, aimed at helping them help you more effectively.

Currently, there is no cure for eczema.  Finding a cure would significantly transform the lives of over 5 million sufferers in the UK, of which 15-20% are school children. The National Eczema Society supports and funds research into eczema.Because dermatology does not usually attract significant funding, contributions made by the Society create the potential to make a real difference in finding a cure.
